Results
The Midnight Moonlight Maratime Marathon was won by Rich Holden and crew: Christopher Harvey and Ted Nagy on Rich's F-27, Seabird. This group beat-out three other multihulls that raced the MMMM to take first place in the multihull division despite the challenging conditions of the race. David Person and crew: Dave Gilman and Tint Khine, finished second on Antares in addition to ending up with a nice photo in 'Lectronic Latitude.
Defiance maintained her title for the second year in a row in this year's Silver Eagle Race. Mike Ropers, Don Dewar and crew brought Defiance home in front of the crowd and corrected out first in the three boat multihull division. Dave Gilman and Tint Khine finished second on their F-31 Prime Directive.
Alameda Interclub #5 saw strong winds in the Central Bay and FOG! In the multihull spinnaker division, Todd Olsen's F-27, Raptor, staring Todd Olsen and Philip Jenkins, eaked out a win over Chris Harvey's F-27, Three Sigma, staring Chris Harvey, Peter Lange, and (who else??). The two boats finished within seconds of each other, Three Sigma in the lead but not far enough in front to make up for the time she owed the pin-top rigged Raptor. Once again Mike Ropers and Don Dewar took the line in this division from the deck of Defiance, but needed another 5 min to correct out in front of the fast F-27s. Interclub #5 also saw the encore debut of Bob Naber's Kantola 38, Devoras, fresh back from Napa.
In the 5 boat non-spinnaker fleet, Dave and Tint took the line to earn a bullet on their F-31 Prime Directive. Richard Keller crossed the line on his F-31Triple Play just in time to deny Bill Anderson second place from aboard his Kurt Hughes 39, Feet.
The final results of the Jazz Cup are still pending but the predicted final results are available here. Seven of the 11 multihulls starting this year's race were qualified BAMA Cup competitors: Wavy, New Focus, Gaijin, Donnybrook, Buster, Defiance, and Gary Helm's new F-31R, White Knuckles. Light winds kept the multihull fleet back and allowed the big A Class boats to lead the pack to Benicia, but not before White Knuckles caught and passed each of them. Only Dale Williams's Farr ILC 46 Wasabi was able to maintain her lead over White Knuckles, allowing Gary to whitle only 15 minutes off of Wasabi's 45 minute head-start.
The laurals, however, look like they will be stolen by the F-24 Mk IIs. Gaijin's corrected time easily earns Pete Adams a bullet in the multihull fleet and would place him second only to the overall winner and first place boat in fleet C, Hans Bigall's Moore 24, Moortal Kombat.
Official results are still pending and the points listed below (Jazz Cup and Series Total) are therefore only estimates.
Uh-oh! Looks like somebody won their division in Interclub #6 and with that win wrapped up their claim to the Inauguaral BAMA CUP. Congratulations to Dave Gilman and Tint Khine on Prime Directive. Noteworthy is that Superstar-in-Waiting and 'BAMA IC Race Committee Volunteer Superhero', Steve Green, was onboard for the historic triple victory in which Prime Directive took line honors to a) win the bullet in the non-spinnaker division, b) resoundingly win First Place in the non-spinnaker division of the 2002 Interclub Series, and c) bring home the First Annual BAMA CUP award.
Question: Would the results have been the same if the first two races had been scored?
The answer, Grasshopper, is that unfortunately they weren't scored this year, so we can't fairly speculate. In any case, we had a great season of racing this year. Thanks to everyone for participating, and CONGRATULATIONS again to Dave and Tint.Christopher Sundberg

Boats participating in a scheduled BAMA Cup Race receive one point for starting and finishing. In addition, extra points will be awarded based on the number of multihulls participating. In order to qualify as a participant for BAMA Cup scoring purposes, competing yachts must have a valid BAMA Mulithull PHRF certificate and be properly registered as a race participant with the yacht club/organization administering a race.
1-3 participants = first place will be credited extra points
4-5 participants = first and second place will be recognized
6-7 participants = first, second and third place will be recognized
8-9 particiapnts = first, second, third and fourth place will be recognized
10-12 participants = 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th places will be recognized
13+ participants = 1st through 6th place finishers will be creditedEach place winner will receive extra points based on the number of places scored, so that in a 7 participant race (for example), a first place finisher, second place finisher, and third place finisher will be recognized and will receive added points: the first place winner receiving 4 points, the second place finisher receiving 3 points, the third place finisher earning 2 points, and each and every finisher after that earning 1 point.
So get ready to race and get ready to have fun. We think the races that we've selected are good multihull races, are fun to sail, and will appeal to a good cross section of BAMA members.
