BAMA 2011 Board of Directors
|Commodore - Rich Keller
Richard has been sailing and racing multihulls for a long time, starting with beach cats and upgrading to F-boats in 2003. Triple Play, an F-31 aft cabin, is based on an air dock in Alameda at OYC. Richard, an electrical engineer, lives in Palo Alto and is still learning how to make Triple Play perform to its rating. Learning how to "Cruise" is on his to-do list. |Vice Commodore - Philip Hadley
Philip's email address is vicecommodore at sfbama dot org
|Race Chairman - Ross Stein
Believing that two heads are better than none, Ross Stein and Bill Pace jointly own and sail the Corsair 24, Origami. Ross has been a BAMA member for 6 years, and races in many of the BAMA Cup and Interclub events. Origami is dry-sailed out of Schoonmaker Point marina in Sausalito, and Ross lives in Redwood City. When he is very lucky, Ross' 24-yr-old daughter, Monica, call tactics on Origami. She is a former collegiate All-American, who spent four years on the Brown University varsity sailing team. For relaxation, Ross is a geophysicist at the U.S. Geological Survey in Menlo Park, studying earthquake hazards.
Ross's email address is racechair at sfbama dot org
|Secretary - Bill Pace
Bill is co-owner of Corsair 24, Origami, and an avid participant in BAMA's racing program. His non-sailing time is mostly spent working with several non-profits in the Bay Area.
Bill Pace's email address is sfbsec at sfbama dot org
|n/a||Treasurer - Larry Olsen
|Social/Training/Safety Chairman - Steve Keith
I am new to most of you. I have sailed/cruised on the bay in monohulls for a decade but I was always fascinated with multihulls. I purchased my first boat a year and a half ago. Next to my wife, kids, grandkids, and dogs, she is the best thing in my life. She is Emma Jean, a Corsair 24 mark 2 built in 1995. Emma, friends and I race and cruise the bay and Tahoe. In my new capacity as a Board Member responsible for Social Events, Multihull Training and Safety afloat, I expect to learn as well as teach but the real goal here is to continue the joy of sailing.
|Cruising Director - Gary Miskell
Gary has been the BAMA Cruising czar since 2007, and a member of BAMA for the last 7 years. Fun and relaxation is the name of the game, so we try not to get stressed out on things like ratings, starts or who got to the anchorages first. Owner of Jitterbug a Catana 431 catamaran. Claim to fame Claudette and I sailed Jitterbug across the Atlantic in 2001.
Gary can be reached at sfbcruise at sfbama.org
|Rating Chairman - Jon Green
Started sailing in my early 40s in the late '80s, originally as a part owner of a big monohull, but very quickly moved to Corsair trimarans. After about 10 years of almost exclusively racing, quit sailing for a variety of reasons, but resumed 2 years ago with the purchase of my Sprint 750. Very recently retired.
|n/a||Information Systems - Stephan Wendl
Stephan Wendl owns a Seawind 1000XL "YangFan" since 2002. He and his son enjoy cruising during the warm weather. They have been to Mexico and back a few years ago and regularly spend time during summer in the Delta. Stephan used to own half a catamaran (catalina 34) which he quickly traded up to a more pleasant sailing platform after getting to know the pleasures of Catamaran Comfort.
