| Perception is a 1992 Kronos 45, built in France by Henri Wauquiez for charter. Glenn Fagerlin, purchased
Perception in the fall of 1999. It has a charter layout with 4 staterooms;
heads and showers attached to each. Power is provided by twin 48
HP Yanmars. Sails include a fully battened main, 120% roller furling
Genoa, and a symmetrical spinnaker which Glenn added later. Like other former
charter Kronos 45s, Perception's white sails are evidently sized for charter since the Kronos 45 sail specifications indicate an upwind
sail area of 1259 sq. ft. but former charter Kronos 45s, like Perception are equipped with 1031 sq.ft. of sail area.
According to the builders web site only 13 Kronos 45's were built. The boat was sailed to the Caribbean, and worked for 5 years
in charter before being purchased and brought to the Bay Area. Glenn
aquired Perception when the owner was transferred to Seattle and sold the boat.
Since it is a French boat, all the manuals are written
in French. It had 220 volt power, which Glenn converted, and a reasonable
set of 10 year old electronics - wind, speed, autopilot, GPS (all Autohelm),
windlass, VHF, etc. Glenn added radar, chart plotter, diesel heater,
new vhf, and repaired most of the things that didn't work. The freezer
is next on the list.
Perception is berthed in Richmond at Marina Bay.
Glenn primarily sails the Bay and Delta but Mexico beckons in the future.
