BAMA issues multihull PHRF ratings to BAMA
members and other multihullers that wish to participate in San Francisco
Bay Area/Monterey Bay/Lake Tahoe regattas/races as a service to the local
multihull community and at the request of the Northern California-YRA PHRF
Committee. BAMA PHRF ratings and other BAMA handicap numbers are
determined relative to boats in the local Bay Area multihull fleet with the
express intention of maintaining as close a relative handicap as possible to
other handicapped sailing vessels (monohulls) participating in Bay Area open
regattas.
BAMA issues certificates for all multihull sailing designs over 15 feet in
length participating in handicapped racing events in the extended Bay Area.
Multihull PHRF numbers and other multihull ratings are determined by the BAMA Race Coordinator
following the recommendations of the BAMA Ratings Committee. A completed BAMA
PHRF Application Form is needed for a BAMA multihull PHRF certificate.
Applications typically take 2 weeks to review before a certificate will be
issued if no additional information is requested.
